Progression of Coronary Artery Disease from Stable Angina Towards Myocardial Infarction: Role of Oxidative Stress

Inspite of many efforts which were made to explain the role of oxidative stress in progression of CAD (Coronary Artery Disease), its predictive role is still not clear. In order to fill these lacunae and to establish the utility of antioxidant vitamins in delaying the progression of CAD from stable angina (SA) towards myocardial Infarction (MI), the present study was conducted.

Ischemic heart disease events triggered by short-term exposure to fine particulate air pollution.
BACKGROUND Recent evidence suggests that long-term exposure to particulate air pollution contributes to pulmonary and systemic oxidative stress, inflammation, progression of atherosclerosis, and risk of ischemic heart disease and death. Short-term exposure may contribute to complications of atherosclerosis, such as plaque vulnerability, thrombosis, and acute ischemic events. These findings are ...

Heart failure is a growing epidemic in the worldwide. Atherosclerosis is a major mechanism of cardiovascular disease including myocardial infarction and peripheral arterial disease. Moreover, it causes many diseases and deaths around the world. Atherosclerosis, like coronary artery disease (CAD), is associated with inflammation and oxidative stress. The current article has been collected the s...

Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...
متن کاملComparison between Revascularization and Optimal Medical Therapy in Patients with Stable Angina Pectoris
Background and Purpose: Regarding usefulness of revascularization versus optimal medical therapy in patients with stable angina pectoris, data are challenging. The aim of this 12-month follow-up study was to compare the survival benefit associated with revascularization versus optimal medical therapy on the patients with stable angina pectoris. Materials and Methods: A prospective clinical s...
متن کاملComplement factors in Acute Myocardial Infarction and Unstable Angina
Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most important and lethal diseases in the world. CAD represents a board spectrum of disease from silent ischemia at one end to sudden cardiac death at the other end. The middle of this spectrum consists of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and unstable angina pectoris (UA). Recent data show that the inflammatory process plays a major r...
